Hi. I'm Emily.
Discovering how things are made has paved my journey to becoming a designer, over and over again.
I grew up in a foggy and oceanic place in the Pacific Northwest, and spent most of my childhood time building forts and structures, taking things apart and putting them back together again. This was all in the Pacific Northwest, where the sun dappled through the forest and the fog, but I also longed for color. I guess you could say I was equal parts emo and searching for fun, and making it along the way.
So when I got to California for college, I started out in architecture. I eventually moved into anthropology, and throughout all of that, I was knitting and working with textiles. I designed knitwear, taught at local knitting shops, and eventually fell in love with leather and shoemaking as one of the first employees at Bryr clogs.
I also love to cook and bake. During the pandemic, I opened up a bake shop in Arkansas. My pastries were the colorful ones. Even in the midst of the pandemic, I found some joy in making delicious things that were bright to lift the mood..
And that’s what I’m doing now with FLYER Design Studio. It’s where I get to bring you objects that will last forever (ok, nearly), made in bright and vivid hues, and with functionality (like interior pockets and hooks) that make it easier to be in the moment, and just, well… brighter. And dare I say, more FUN.

Sure, you could collect every color, and match for every outfit, but ultimately, it is our vision that you build a relationship with a few beautiful objects for your forever wardrobe. That way, we consume less and enjoy more.
